You see, I don't view my
short stories as stand -
alone pieces, but weave them into themed collections.
I publish my
short stories (1,000 - 4,000 words) either
as themed collections, with a common strand binding them together to make them greater than the sum of the parts, or
as stand -
alone singles.
In
short time I plan on releasing a few more stand -
alone short stories,
as well
as one that's a little more comprehensive, so I'll definitely plan on implementing some of these strategies.
I know many don't put their

alone, but in this new world of Vellum, why not give readers more ways to discover you?
Additionally, the length of Van Eyck's title, coming in at just under 9,000 words, isn't something that ever could have been published

alone title; it's too long for many
short story anthologies or literary journals, too
short for publication

The potential for a renewed interest in

as timely pieces of non-fiction on current world events means that readers without the time or inclination to tackle longer pieces of literature can now fill their reading needs with

short story is coming back strong these days, both

alone offering or in collections.
And since I can't do anything else with them, (re-publication of
short stories seems to be darn near impossible unless you're famous), I've decided to offer them
