Already we are at risk of
catching rabies from our dogs, toxoplasmosis and cat - scratch
disease from our cats, and psittacosis from our parrots.
This was
already known for hantavirus, Lyme
disease and a few others, where losing biodiversity means losing predators of
disease - bearing mice, or species that
caught but didn't spread the infection.
