One of the attractions of
self -
publishing over my previous small publisher, was that I could offer readers a lower price, so I
already knew that I would price the
ebook under $ 5 (compared to $ 6.99 for my small press
ebook).
Yes, the mass of
self -
published authors out there will create a tier of value - priced books (this has
already been done), and I'm sure in a couple of years Amazon will release another spate of numbers that will show how much more profitable $ 6.99
eBooks are as compared to $ 9.99
eBooks, and so on.
But, as you probably
already know,
ebook income is huge for
self -
published authors.
We're focusing this time on comings and goings — as in two new services that might be of use to our author - subscribers: Palatium is intent on getting indies» books into
ebook subscription services in various parts of the world, while Books - A-Million has jumped into the
self -
publishing arena (which
already was a bit crowded).
