also addresses non-surgical options and writes, «In general, we do not advise this
therapy as the ideal form of treatment, but it may be appropriate for individual
dogs due to some combination of their very small size, inactive lifestyle...» Dr. Voss
makes no recommendations or comments on the bone - cutting procedures but notes that the extra-cap procedure «seem to work reasonably
well in small breeds and inactive
dogs when performed by an experienced surgeon.»
