Okay, I will admit that I have a lot
of pumpkin related recipes I want to share this fall, but there are
also a few apple recipes in my back pocket that need to come
out.
Love the little Japaneses
pumpkins so this will be perfect for breakfast, planning to add a pinch
of cardamom (something else I love the taste
of)-- I
also make my own puree but I make it in the microwave by washing, poking holes in the top and cooking on high till the juices start to leek
out the holes than let sit a few minutes (easier to cut cooked) The oven works as well - like a giant baked potatoe.
Not only does this include
pumpkin, but there are
also seasonings used to bring
out the flavor
of the
pumpkin so it has that classic taste to it.
If you're like my mom, you may be weirded
out by the idea
of a sweet potato dessert (to be fair, she's
also one
of those anti-
pumpkin people), but but BUT, think about it... sweet potato adds moisture just like
pumpkin, but it's sweeter, so it works perfectly in these little spiced cakes.
BTW, you could substitute the
pumpkin flavor for the original cold brew in this recipe and
also swap the greek yogurt
out for
pumpkin puree and have the most epic
pumpkin chai cold brew overnight oats
of life.
I
also couldn't find
pumpkin seeds so I made tortilla strips
out of flour tortillas.
I was
also out of plain greek yogurt so I used the
pumpkin greek yogurt I had on hand.
I used leftover baked sweet potato instead
of the
pumpkin, and mashed banana instead
of apple sauce, and guess what — it still turned
out great
Also forgot the cloves, I think it would've been better with them though.
I
also added a bit
of cinnamon to make it a bit more like a traditional
pumpkin pie and left
out the toasted
pumpkin seeds or hazelnuts because I didn't have them.
My boys won't eat raisins or nuts in granola so I added more oats; we'll see how it turns
out Also, I didn't have nutmeg so I used
pumpkin pie spice instead
of the cinnamon and nutmeg (I do this often).
Since then, I've been baking
pumpkin bars and muffins and cookies, eating
pumpkin - spice things, and
also spooning
pumpkin straight
out of the can!

out the carob and cocoa from the chocolate
pumpkin recipe and leave them
out of the chocolate beet muffin recipe or if I would have to change other things to do so
also or whether you had a
pumpkin and beet one without chocolate.
I am
also full in
pumpkin fever, I have a huge butternut in the fridge, so large I have cooked two meals already and I could easily cook two or three more
out of it.
For the greatest oomph
of fresh
pumpkin seed flavor, it's ideal to roast the innards scooped
out of your Jack O Lantern - to - be, but if you can't wait until Halloween (and for the time being, sourcing a fresh
pumpkin in your neck
of the woods is an exercise in futility), pre-roasted seeds from the bulk supply section
of a natural grocer will
also work in a pinch.
I
also love everything
pumpkin, and don't believe it ever goes
out of season (unless your only source
of pumpkin is fresh
pumpkin, not canned), and I can't wait to try these!
You can
also choose to opt
out of the pie crust altogether, making this simple but delicious maple
pumpkin custard.

out perfect:) I hate when people change the whole recipe but here I just wanted to make do with what I had at home so since I didn't have whole - wheat flour I just used white flour, I used Turkish strained yogurt which wasn't liquid enough so I had to add some extra milk and I
also doubled the spices (because you can never have enough cinnamon hehe I probably put about a tablespoon
of cinnamon and a tablespoon
of pumpkin spice which is basically cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg etc).
I make the turkey for Thanksgiving and it is always sooo good, my secret is not so secret I just soak in a brine for several hours before cooking it.I make homemade cranberry sauce none
of that jelly
out of a can here, it was my grandmothers recipe but it isn't anything special just good and homemade.I

I've tried banana stewed apples avocado mashed
pumpkin carrot potato sweet potato etc I
also get paranoid aswel when he eat chunks cause he always gags on it freaks me
out i cut everything up to the size
of a pea.
I tried making a different
pumpkin donut this season which
also called for a cup
of pumpkin puree, and they came
out very dense and moist, almost like a pie consistency.
As it uses canned ingredients, it is
also a great
pumpkin soup recipe for when fresh
pumpkin is
out of season.

out there that these cookies, a super comfy couch or better yet, a wood burning fire, a glass
of milk, a good movie / tv show / book / magazine (in my world, a Christmas Movie) and a Gingerbread Spice OR
Pumpkin Pie candle is possibly one
of the bestest ways in the world to end your night.
It would
also be perfect to wear with these joggers and pink Ugg sucks, while sipping a cup
of tea
out of this mug from Papersource (I've been loving the Stash
pumpkin spice tea lately).
Pumpkin seeds can prevent worms and
also push them
out of your dog's system.
