I tried making it while living in Kenya (

butters there) but did not have much success (the equipment is
also not that great).

Made these at weekend, substituted unsalted
butter instead of the shortening, as we don't have shortening here and
also threw in some brandy cream as didn't have enough sour cream as
well as some ground cardamom.
I did sub coconut oil for
butter, coconut oil is so easy to sub 1:1 and has so many
good bits for you
Also, I had no maple syrup on hand so just used the same amount in honey although next time will use maple as I love the flavour of maple in muffins and cakes.

if you are using peanut
butter that is fairly dry, it
also could be a problem... easily spreadable pb is
best to use.
I used my
BEST DAIRY FREE
BUTTER CREAM FROSTING but you could
also use HEALTHIER DAIRY FREE CHOCOLATE FROSTING But I wanted to make a dye free V - day treat and found that beets were used at one time to created that red look.
Next time I would
also add more spice and maybe a tbsp of apple
butter inside, but they were still
good and I'd make them again!
I love them
best with just

also just add more peanut
butter, protein powder, cocoa or cinnamon to help mask it further.

butter caramel is a soft caramel (it doesn't harden), so I suggest serving it right away because the popcorn gets slightly chewy as leftovers.
