When I prepared grains at home, I
always prepared them in traditional methods
like soaking brown rice, sprouting quinoa, or fermenting
oatmeal.
My favorite meal was
always baked
oatmeal — a simple dish of oats, brown sugar, eggs, and milk baked almost
like a cake.
Our family loves
oatmeal cookies, but not raisins, so we
always substitute something else,
like chocolate chips and nuts.
I
always like to add a couple of extras into my smoothies such as flax seeds or flax oil which are rich in Omega 3s, and even a tablespoon or two of regular
oatmeal to both help thicken the smoothie as well as add additional nutrients such as fiber and protein.
I've created coconut lemon
oatmeal and a grain - free lemon coconut porridge which are both really good, and I have
always loved the lemon flavored Larabar, although it doesn't have coconut
like these cookies do.

like your picture... The only problem I have is, that, my husband
likes raisins in his

I
always use only gluten free grains
like oatmeal or brown rice.
Stuff I
always have in the house, my toddler seems to
like them, and since I had leftover walnut / cinnamon / coconut sugar crumble from an
oatmeal recipe, I swapped that in for the pecans (I'm allergic.)
It's not that I don't
like variety — if I have time, I love to make an omelet — but I'm
always in a hurry in the morning and steel - cut
oatmeal with agave and cinnamon allows me to go through my day without thinking about it.
We
always have a can of pumpkin in our cupboard, throughout the year, because I love using it as a fat substitute in recipes (similar to how you would with applesauce) and because it's the one vegetable that Paige will eat one hundred percent of the time (I try to get her to mix it into her
oatmeal and be cool
like me, but she's a two year old who just doesn't understand the idea of food combining.
