The authors, and many
others, have discussed the LIA, and without trying to completely summarize an extensive literature, there appears to be agreement that the LIA was not a single, uniform global phenomenon, but a series of events happening at different times in different regions, not
always coincident with sunspot minima, and that multiple
factors contributed to the cooling.
