Grand Island, N.Y. (WBEN)- During a work session meeting of the Grand Island Town Board Friday afternoon, the body voted unanimously in favor of
amending town zoning that would put the brakes on a proposed Love's Travel Stop off the I - 190 near the Whitehaven exit.
Monday night's unanimous vote by the Grand Island Town Board to
amend the town zoning code to effectively ban the construction of travel plazas or truck stops on the island was not unexpected.

On Sept. 11 the
town board voted unanimously to
amend their
zoning law to ban fracking and other related activities.
Under the original proposal, the
town's current Marine District
zoning would have been
amended to require ferry terminals «to have at least 10 acres of buildable land dedicated to each ferry service provided,» while also offering a certain number of parking spaces for passengers.
