Animal Crossing:
amiibo Festival is a new Animal Crossing
game that
focuses on Nintendo
amiibo Cards and Figures.
Today IGN shared a video showing off the My Castle features of the
game with a great deal of
focus on
amiibo functionality.
We can only speculate as to how far along another Animal Crossing
game might be, but Kyogoku makes it clear that the current
focus has been squarely on the currently announced
games saying that «we're in full development for Happy Home Designer and
Amiibo Festival.
Specifically, this Nintendo Direct briefing will
focus on the upcoming «Welcome
Amiibo» update for the 3DS
game.
One thing that we
focused on was, «What kind of
game play experience can we create using
Amiibo figures and
Amiibo cards?»
Still, given the
focus on character customisation in the
game, a Splatoon
amiibo does make sense.

Japan's Animal Crossing: New Leaf direct is going to
focus in on the new update hitting the
game, which is all about
amiibo interaction.
Pretty awesome, a bit of a shame that I'll pass on this
game for a bit to
focus on upgrading my 3DS and building up
Amiibo funds for Monster Hunter Stories.
One of the things they
focused on was the inclusion of a Shadow Mewtwo
Amiibo card for early adopters of the
game.
This isn't the first time such an important role was thrust upon players near the beginning of an Animal Crossing
game, as players are made town Mayor in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, so it's nothing new per se, but all throughout Pocket Camp, it is clear it takes inspiration from a few of the more recent
games as it shares a similar
focus to Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer and the updated version of New Leaf entitled Animal Crossing: New Leaf — Welcome
amiibo thanks to a campervan / motorhome aspect of the
game, and I'm okay with that as both
games were good in their own right, even without the whole Welcome
amiibo update.
Such a
game would be easy to slip into a stream, and would draw the eyes of Nintendo fans purely for boasting
amiibo focus.
Specifically, the new Nintendo Direct is expected to
focus on the upcoming update for Animal Crossing: New Leaf on Nintendo 3DS, which will introduce a variety of new features to the
game including
amiibo support in the
game, with 50 new
amiibo cards for the title coming in December.
