In recent
years, the consensus
among policymakers and researchers has been that after the
first few
years on the job,
teacher performance, at least as measured by student test - score growth, can not be improved.
We compared the effectiveness of
teachers from
among the certification groups in their
first, second, and third
years of teaching.
This gain is also similar to half of the performance gains observed
among the district's novice
