Mind and Matter and these other exhibition and incidental installations of individual works are part of an ongoing initiative
among women curators at MoMA to delve deeply into the permanent collection in order to find out what works by women artists they already own and then see how gaps in the collection can be filled through acquisitions, with assistance from the Modern Women's Fund.

Women and Land Art in the 1970s at SculptureCenter, New York; 9 Evenings Reconsidered: Art, Theatre and Engineering, 1966 for the List Visual Arts Center, MIT, Cambridge, Massachusetts; and two exhibitions, Gloria: Another Look at Feminist Art of the 1970s and Food at White Columns, New York.
Other topics included an influential 1983 article by Sid Sachs (University of the Arts)-- who was in the audience — on whether there was such a thing as a Philadelphia Imagist tradition; a College Art Association conference chaired by
curator Judith Stein (also in the audience); the number of artists who taught and lived in both Chicago and Philadelphia (particularly Ree Morton and Rafael Ferrer); and the equal representation of men and
women among the Chicago Imagists.
Now, though, some of the most revelatory art on sexual themes is being made by
women like Bernstein, Betty Tompkins, Juanita McNeely and Joan Semmel, best known for their paintings, and multidisciplinary artists like Schneemann and Valie Export,
among others, all of whom have been producing their work for decades to little notice — if not outright persecution — from critics,
curators and audiences.
But he didn't hear the conversation
among the museum directors and
curators in the shuttle bus I hopped to the prize ceremony at the Ivan Franko Theater, talk that settled on the dearth of
women among the mentor artists and the jury.

curator had included some of the best of the
women in the group; Mitchell's and Frankenthaler's more ambitious works aren't featured and they are not
among the «selected artists» on the museum's website.

Curators to Watch in 2016.

woman among those asked,
curator Naomi Beckwith of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, says, «Sexism is a broad problem that can not be reduced to simply men oppressing
women, but is about the set of expectations we have and the goals we set for each other that need serious reevaluation.»
Inspired in part by period episodic television programs such as Rod Serling's Night Gallery, as well as incorporating French existentialism and absurdist dialogue, Gaines, Gordon and Segade appear in videos in which,
among other things, an unemployed
woman romances a supernatural being; a man turns to witch doctors following a health insurance hassle; and art
curators trapped in an executive board room curate — literally — nightmares drawn from today's economic anxieties.
As an independent
curator prior to joining the Museum, Morris organized exhibitions that explored issues related to feminism —
