The children of
young parents — who tend to be
amongst the most disadvantaged — may benefit particularly from a positive relationship with their father: «When
young men do not take on the responsibilities of fatherhood, it has serious consequences for the child's development, the
mother's resources and consequent social costs» (ESRC 2002).
