visits happier and less stressful for pets and their
guardians by integrating a new approach to handling and caring for
animals called Fear Free.
Per shelter policy, minors must be accompanied by an adult
guardian while
visiting animals.
The ASPCA supports the use of humanely trained and professionally evaluated domestic
animals to participate with their
guardians / handlers in
animal - assisted therapy applications and in social
visits to hospitals, nursing homes and similar facilities.

animals» living condition.
After graduating, the dog -
guardian teams become project ambassadors —
visiting villages and schools to educate others about the importance of being kind to
animals, teach them to use positive reinforcement training techniques and «serve as testimony of the healing power of human - dog bonds.»
