SPCA Humane Investigations officers are still investigating and will likely submit this sad case to the Monterey County Office of the District Attorney for their consideration of multiple counts of

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - SAULT STE. MARIE (December 14, 2017)-- Two Sault Ste. Marie residents have been found guilty of
animal cruelty
under the Ontario SPCA Act following an investigation into the
neglect of a dog in their care.
Those convicted of felonies in cases involving torture, mutilation, intentional killing, dogfighting,
neglect and hoarding would be listed on state registries
under the proposal, announced yesterday in an
Animal Legal Defense Fund press release.
McIntosh, 40, replaces Bob Young, who resigned
under pressure in late September as part of a staff shake - up in the
animal control department that was brought about by charges of mismanagement and
animal neglect.
Rude Ranch's mission is to find permanent loving homes for adoptable
animals placed
under our care; to provide a safe haven and rehabilitation to feral and
neglected animals rescued from abusive situations; and to put an end to needless euthanasia because of pet overpopulation.

Under the amendments, rescues are qualified as long as they can provide food, water, shelter, appropriate exercise, and necessary veterinary care and treatment; have a protocol for containing and managing contagious illness and disease; actively tries to find homes or placement for
animals, and can keep
animals safe and and so they are not at risk of abuse or
neglect or for use in fighting or research.
Willfully
neglecting or failing to provide suitable care for an
animal, regardless of the
animal's life stage or prognosis, constitutes an offence
under the Criminal Code of Canada and may result in charges.
In the State of Arizona, it is illegal
under Statute 13 - 2910 to intentionally, recklessly, or knowingly inflict any
animal to physical harm, injury, cruel mistreatment,
neglect, or abandonment.
ARS 13 - 2910 states: «Intentionally, knowingly or recklessly subjects any
animal under the person's custody or control to cruel
neglect or abandonment.»
