In Sept., 2010, the National
Animal Control Association issued its statement rejecting use of carbon monoxide
gas chambers.
All of the higher ups need to be present when the

In gas chambers,
animals are forced into a box, often along with many others.
The
chamber must be located outdoors or
in a well - ventilated room and be airtight with a flow regulator, flow meter,
gas concentration gauge, temperature gauge, exhaust fan, and, if indoors, an alarm, explosion proof equipment, view ports with sufficient lighting, and a way to separate
animals.
The legislation also standardizes holding times for stray dogs, prohibits the use of
gas chambers for euthanizing dogs and cats, and creates a spay / neuter program, funded by a voluntary tax check off, that is designed to reduce the number of homeless
animals in Massachusetts.
