For Animals adopts out cats and kittens with imperfect eyes, and they go on to lead perfectly normal lives!
Some states assess sales tax on adoption fees
of animals adopted out through non-profit rescue groups, while other states do not.
We surveyed municipal shelters regarding general practices and asked for 1) the number of animals received, 2) the number euthanized, 3) method of euthanasia and carcass disposal, 4) what agency typically handles cruelty complaints, 5) are
animals adopted out already altered or with a spay / neuter contract, 6) if a contract is used, is it enforced, 7) an estimate on number of calls for help from outside of jurisdiction, 8) is there a tag and / or spay neuter ordinance and, 9) is it enforced?
Since the shelter extended its hours, there was a 25 percent increase in the number of
animals adopted out in the final three months of 2004, compared to the final three months of 2003.
Another thing to keep in mind is that NOT all shelters completely vet
the animals they adopt out.
Interested adopters must be approved under the same screening process that the shelter organization has in place for all
the animals it adopts out.
While we collect adoption fees for
each animal adopted out from our rescue, those funds do not entirely cover the cost of habitats, food, bedding, toys, medical care, marketing and other costs for the hundreds of animals that come through our rescue program each year.
There were also a total of 52
animals adopted out that day as well.
Rescues and shelters are paid $ 50 for
every animal they adopt out during the pet fair and the following week.
All animals adopted out were spayed and neutered.
All of our volunteers at FCAR are important to us and vital to our success, but foster homes hold a special place in the hearts of
the animals we adopt out and the loving families we adopt to.
Some shelters implant microchips into
every animal they adopt out, so check with the shelter and find out your new pet's microchip number so you can get it registered in your name.
