animation was a standard
for Disney between the 1940's and 1970's, where you can see certain characters move in the same way as other characters from earlier or later films, but that
was solely due to the limitations in the
animation room at the
time.
And at a
time when all - ages three - dimensional
animation seems to
be in a serious rut (how many more movie - star - voiced pleas
for interspecies understanding must we
be subjected to?)
Nelson, who has done major
time in the
animation trenches, including as head of story
for «Kung Fu Panda,» seems like an old pro despite «P2»
being her first
time in the director's chair.
Combat
is clunky waiting
for animations to finish so
timing is somewhat random.
A second

is its voice acting, with these big budget
animations usually carrying some huge names; they have a good cast but no stand out big guns this

The directorial team of Hall and Williams has brought us a real feast
for the eyes; the
animation really
is spectacular at
times, pushing the boundaries of just how much detail you can control, while not making it overwhelming on the viewer.
Getting from
animation to live action
is a journey in and of itself, one that Director Bill Condon, and stars Emma Watson (Belle), Dan Stevens (Beast), Luke Evans (Gaston), Josh Gad (Le Fou), Audra McDonald (Garderobe), Ewan McGregor (Lumiere), Sir Ian McKellen (Cogsworth) and Gugu Mbatha - Raw (Plumette) took and created a gorgeous, fresh new look
for a tale as old as
time.
Rating: 7/10 — it
's easy to forget that there
are other
animation studios in Japan beside Studio Ghibli (here it
's Madhouse), but despite some obvious flaws, The Girl Who Leapt Through
Time is a positive reminder; engaging and unpretentious, it
's a movie that treats its more serious themes with genuine integrity, while adding a lively sense of humour, all of which makes
for an entertaining, if not entirely polished, viewing experience.
Early Man Rated PG
for rude humor and some action Rotten Tomatoes Score: 84 % (at
time of writing) In Theaters Aardman, the UK stop motion
animation studio behind Chicken Run and Wallace & Gromit,
are now tackling caveman soccer in this new project about a tribe of neanderthals who
are forced out of their valley by their technologically superior neighbors, only to challenge them to a football match to win back their land.
The
animation was for the mostly part terrific, but at
times it
was below par
for Disney, particularly with some of the background images.
The cute
animation for pulling stickers off anything (walls, bushes, trees, etc)
is nice at first, but quickly grows tiresome as you need hundreds of the damn things and just multiply the two seconds it takes to pull each one off and you'll realise how much
time is wasted.
Just in
time for the autumn season that permeates the movie's
animation, Lost Treasure comes to DVD and a Blu - ray / DVD Combo today, the latter of which
is reviewed here.
That
being said, most teases don't feature intricate stop - motion
animation or gorgeous night -
time city - scapes, so we
're a little more favorably inclined to this promo
for Wes Anderson's upcoming film Isle Of Dogs, the full trailer
for which will arrive tomorrow.
From there, a sub-menu
is activated and two brief sequences become available: «Where Jane and Hook Meet
for the First
Time» (2:04) and «Gift
for Tink» (1:46), both presented in a combination of rough and finished
animation.

The Right
Timing It has
been a bit more than a month since DreamWorks
Animation's «Kung Fu Panda 3» opened and held the top spot at the box office
for two weeks.
The porting of this 2011 title, which features some snazzy facial
animation technology and pretty -
for - the -
time graphics, means that Rockstar
is confident in the hardware capabilities of the platform.
The
animation is spot on — the comic
timing is immaculate and you could
be forgiven
for thinking that this hand - drawn character
is the equal of the legendary Tati.
There may
be a day when computer graphics completely supersede the need to have celebrities in the middle of films, but given the costs of production today
for animation, as well as the lack of the movie star draw to fill in the seats, Final Fantasy
is a reminder that the day of the human actor will
be with us
for a long
time to come.
Over the past 15 years, Disney's released 12 shorts, all of which
are now available on Blu - ray (some
for the first
time) in the Walt Disney
Animation Studios Short Films Collection.
For computer - generated
animation, the result
is flawlessly smooth, which
is even more amazing when you consider how many fish
are on the screen at the same
time.
So I think that this
is an exciting
time for animation.
So while Hollywood chooses this
time of year to start shelling their award hopefuls, many of them emotionally draining dramas, the search
for a palette cleanser seems more of a necessity than a choice and this year, DreamWorks
Animation is delivering the goods.

been going since the early 1970s, and had won three Oscars
for its short films «Creature Comforts,» «The Wrong Trousers» and «A Close Shave» (the latter two featuring Wallace and Gromit), by the

The
animations are slick
for the fighters although the game has a tendency to switch to a lower frame rate when it plays through a detailed

One thing the film has going
for it, I'll admit,
is the old - school 2 - D
animation, rendered at a
time when most animated features
were going CGI.

is no hp of monsters

be a mh game if there
was... 2nd... the long
animation times for drinking, sharpening, sheathing weapons..
the game
is really hard, not camera lock and the extended
animations for taking potions increase the difficulty (you can get armor that will help decrease the
animation time btw it
's all part of the rpg element) it adds so much tension.

time, the two heavyweight fighters
were Pixar and DreamWorks
Animation, because Disney
Animation was churning out titles such as Brother Bear and Chicken Little, not remotely close to representing serious competition.

times over that Tim
is an exceedingly imaginative child, which would seem to explain why this movie gets kookier and more manic with every passing set piece — except
for the switch between graphic 2 - D
animation in Tim
's fantasies and 3 - D animated «reality.»
I like the characters int he first movie, I think the
animation looks good and I like the story, it makes me misty - eyed
for reasons I won't get into so this looks like it'll
be one of the msot anticipated sequels
for me in a long
time.
