Watching «Roman J. Israel, Esq.» is like watching a very long episode of «Curb Your Enthusiasm,» only without the laughs, and without a
lead character who even knows that he's
annoying.
Lawrence is as good as she's been in all previous films with none of the
annoying «cool girl» quirks that mark her out in real life now; you believe her and you root for her and you feel for her which let's face it, is pretty important for a
lead character.
In fact, the weak part of the cast is probably Courtney Cox, the
lead, who can sometimes swing a little too far on the
annoying side to really make you emphasise with some of her
character's weirder habits.
The bad dialogue and shameless product placement are to be expected, and the dynamic between the three
lead human
characters is pretty
annoying, but Bay can't even get the action right in this one, settling for unintelligible set pieces that evade logic almost as much as the story.
But almost as soon as it begins, you realise that there are at least two more
annoying things than wasps in the world: namely Paul and Julia, the caterers (played by Matt O'Leary and Jessica Cook) who are the
lead characters in Diez's film.
The
lead character is an
annoying twat, the plot, which could have been great, is a convoluted mess and the mixture of clumsy controls and terrible cameras mean that I never actually had much fun playing through it, except for the occasional awesome moment when everything came together.
As for the game, it ended up being a decent closer for theFF13 saga, despite an
annoying time limit and its
leading character not being the most standout the franchise has developed.
You'll have a hard time hearing his random quips during gameplay, which is an
annoying trait for any game's
lead character.
