as anal fissures develop in the skin near the
anus due to passage of very hard and dry
stool, do mention them to your physician.
It is especially alarming if there is also blood laced with the
stool as it could mean that there are fissures in the skin of your baby's
anus.
However, all young babies will strain and grunt when having a bowel movement because the muscles of the rectum and
anus are not yet coordinated enough to fully relax
as stool passes through.

stool softeners for a week or so.

as common for cats to lick the anal area after eliminating; however, if the
stool is sticky or watery, the cat may feel the need to tidy up a bit, especially if litter gets stuck around the
anus.
