Portrait mode and wide
aperture mode pretty much produce the same effect, but are meant for different purposes.

aperture 5 - MP camera that can handle selfie panoramas and take a
pretty decent shot in auto
mode.
There's a portrait
mode for creating artificial bokeh behind a person, and there's a wide
aperture mode that produces
pretty much the same effect but on objects.
The wide
aperture mode allows you to capture those depthy, bokeh - filled shots, though the ƒ / 1.6
aperture does a
pretty great job at that naturally.
