I absolutely love the full strength
apple peel so I tried these out.

I have been using your Traditional Irish Soda Bread as my mainstay (use to be the carrot cake cupcakes with added grated
apple, poppy seeds, dates...) and at Easter I was missing the taste of Hot Cross Buns
so I added 1 / 4cup currants, 1tsp cinnamon, 1 / 4tsp nutmeg, dash of clove & allspice and 1 / 4cup diced candied
peel to the soda bread and it was a great substitute.

I
peeled the
apples and didn't blend the sauce
so it did look rather yellow / brownish.
Hi Nava, just made a batch, but had to make some subs... no whole wheat flour,
so took 8 cups AP, added 2 cups bran and 3/4 cup germ no
apple sauce,
so I diced 2 medium sized Empire
apples, and micro waved for 5 minutes, left the
peel on, but think next time might
peel them regular cooking oil 3/4 each of blue berries and rasp berries..
Note the
apple has 5g of fiber WITH the skin on,
so your fiber content will go down if you
peel the
apple (I didn't and I liked it that way)
It breaks down whole fruits such as pear,
apples with its
peel, stems and leaves
so you can get more fibers and nutrients from the whole food.
Scrubbing and
peeling doesn't eliminate chemical residue completely,
so it's best to buy organic when it comes to
apples.
I even grate the
peeled apple over the soup,
so that all the juices are captured.
Apple skins are where much of this fruit's nutrition lies, and when they're cooked the skin becomes ultra-tender just like the rest of the
apples,
so I don't see the point in taking the time to
peel them.
I also used a pink lady
apple, but then had a lot of batter left,
so I battered about 5 baby bananas (cut in half lengthwise) as well as 3 tiny
apples that I didn't have time to
peel in the midst of frying, and they all turned out to be really tasty.
I'm
SO not looking forward to having to

So fast and easy to make, I used the Vitamix and didn't even
peel the
apples.

Rather, with
peeling, chopping, roasting, and chilling the
apples, they do take a bit time to make but they are ever
so worth it.
Another tip for when they're starting: leave the
peels on things like
apples and avocado
so they're easier to grab.
However, they are sprayed
so much that when non-organic
apples were washed, cored,
peeled and then tested, those
apples still tested positive for 4 to 10 different pesticides.
An
apple's
peel has 30 percent more antioxidants than its pulp,
so keep the skins on, and roughly chop your foods instead of dicing them.
2 medium organic
apples (sweet
apples work best — Fuji
apples are a good choice), cut into thin slices (if you don't use organic,
peel your
apples so you don't get the pesticides from the skins in your water)
However, know that by
peeling, you'll be eliminating much of the valuable fiber and some of the important flavonoids,
so it may be worth it to pay a little extra for the organic
apples.
Often the majority of fibre is found in fruit and vegetable skins,
so don't
peel your
apples before blending.
It is also totally possible to make
apple cider vinegar from the whole
apple so don't worry if you don't have leftover
peels and cores from anything.
When I make applesauce, I typically do large quantities at a time
so I have enough
peels and cores for a batch of
apple cider vinegar.
I didn't have
apple juice
so I just
peeled an
apple with about a teaspoon of water and pureed it in a processor for a yummy homemade applesauce, 4.

so I generally steer clear of
peels, but when birchbox sent this little guy my way, I was hooked.
So, the next time you want to eat an
apple, do not
peel it.
