I made these this morning according to the recipe and they were good, but not as flavorful as I liked,
so I made a second batch and added puréed pumpkin along with the
apple sauce, some walnuts, raisins and
apple pie spice and OMG!!!
Apple pie spice mix is a popular mix this time of year, but I'd rather have the
spices separate
so I can make pumpkin
spice or just have plain cinnamon.
;) The latest issue celebrates the fall and Thanksgiving,
so among all the beautiful
pies there I found this
spiced apple cake, which was perfect for my Saturday baking: I had
apples and heavy cream begging to be used.
I love
apple pie and the
spices that go along with it,
so this is right up my alley.
However, we did have applesauce,
so she use that instead and used cinnamon instead of pumpkin
pie spice and before you know it we had
apple waffles for lunch!
So, consider this healthy, make - ahead, baked breakfast brimming with
apples and quinoa, plus
apple pie spice, walnuts, flaxseed and almond milk.
The
apple was WAY too
spiced and I didn't allow it to drain
so it drenched the base, turning it into soggy
pie.
The equinox was on September 22nd this year,
so it's finally time to enjoy pumpkin
spice lattes,
pie, decorative gourds, cinnamon brooms,
apple cider... and of course, leggings!
