I relish
in homemade
apple butter with fresh
apples, cider, and I get a
little giddy with the first sniff of
apple pie and pumpkin pie spice.
I enjoy my nut
butters on bread,
in oatmeal, slathered on fruit like
apples, bananas and plantains,
in pancakes, with dark chocolate for a
little dessert or right off the spoon.
In France,
apple butter is made by slow - cooking
apples by themselves or with a
little butter and sugar until you have a smooth, rich spread.
I made the oats with water, 100 % juice
apple juice and a
little shot of no sugar added boiled cider (my secret ingredient
in apple pie) and with blueberries and nut
butter it tasted perfect.
And by using the pulp from the
apples and ginger, this
butter has a wonderful chunkiness that adds
little bits of zing
in most bites.
I made a few changes: I used all plain flour (that's all I had), sheep's milk yogurt (I bought it to try and it's weird / gross so I made these to use it up), a
little bit of coconut oil
in replace of about a quarter of the
butter because I didn't want to open a new packet of
butter (I'm just lazy:P), and I used 4 small
apples instead of 2 big (gasp!).

little tupperware container and slices of
apple?
