handling model looks to be inspired by old
arcade games like Hydro and Artic Thunder.
While it does certainly lean towards sim racing heavily, there's a definite bit of
arcade splashed in there as well, just enough to emphasis the power, weight and
handling of the cars without ever making it feel like they're not
modeled on the real thing.
Blackbean have split their game down the middle with a rather odd feeling
Arcade mode which takes away rather than adds to the overall game, however for fans of realism the Simulator mode is an amazing experience with a great
handling model that requires skill to master on the highest level.
Meanwhile, the previous DiRT games favored a more
arcade approach, so it was somewhat surprising to see Codemasters claim DiRT 4 was going to build off of DiRT Rally's realistic
handling model and indeed improve upon it.
The result is a
handling model that retains some of the depth and challenge you expect of a sim, but tucks them firmly away behind
arcade - like braking potential and some generous grip.
