It's a decent alternative for those who don't
feel like getting too investing in a deep
racing sim and are just looking for an easy to play
arcade racer.
Even still we have our favorites that we
feel best represent what Xbox Live
Arcade racing games should offer.
One of the first great ones was Rockstar's Midnight Club, which combined great
arcade racing with the whole «street
racing»
feel.
The scenery is also exemplary, giving the game great
feeling of depth and dimension that is usually only found in huge
arcade racing games.
As someone that isn't very good at «proper»
racing games but still enjoys
arcade racers, I
feel like we've been starved of a decent
arcade racer for far too long.
The control system also
feels more like a traditional
arcade racing game because of the speed and power of the cars, not to mention the extremely entertaining ability to destroy just about any object in the game such as fences, bins, cars and a variety of other destroyable objects.
To me though, I have always
felt that there has been a growing divide between the
arcade game and the simulation
racing game, and that the truly
arcade side of
racing has gone missing in recent years.
Where as the last game
felt like a cross between
arcade and simulation, Shift 2 Unleashed is shortening the gap between this game and a pure
racing sim.
We're seeing a steady drop of simulation titles and we aren't short on
arcade racers either, but it doesn't
feel like there are enough «street»
racing games, and that's what I'd like to see this year.
The handling strikes a fine balance between realism and
arcade,
feeling like a new Project Gotham
Racing game at times.
Fans of Ridge Racer will
feel right at home with this next entry into the series that brings all those smooth
arcade races to the palms of your hands.
It almost
felt like an early
arcade racing game where the steering wheel effort doesn't exactly seem to correlate with what your car on screen was doing.
Key to any racer, off - road or not whether it's realistic or
arcade is a solid handling modelthat makes you
feel like your driving the vehicle to its limits, all the time just keeping your grip on the road and dragging every second of time out of the poor screaming machine, but the handling in Nail'd simply lets you drive around everything at max speed and
feels loose and light, and never once does it
feel like your actually
racing on dirt or mud.
While it does certainly lean towards sim
racing heavily, there's a definite bit of
arcade splashed in there as well, just enough to emphasis the power, weight and handling of the cars without ever making it
feel like they're not modeled on the real thing.
Outside of the career mode you've also got the ingenious named
Arcade mode which is where you can set up single
races to compete in, should you
feel like just jumping in and playing a round or two.
Well Forza 5 is made to be played with a pad just like any other
arcade racing game... Maybe FM5 will
feel better with X1 gamepad than other
racing game.
Even from this early build Onrush looks,
feels and plays pretty spectacularly, without a doubt delivering that new breed of high - impact, adrenaline fuelled, off - road
arcade racing it aims to.
Gravel dishes up a series of solid,
arcade style
racing that
feels good to play, and great to drive.

Racing Studio — the development house responsible for Sega Rally 3 — has since been sold off to Codemasters, meaning that it is unlikely that the team will work on another
arcade game, and I genuinely
feel that it's a great shame for the coin - op scene to lose such a talented bunch.
Yet when he told me about designing a

Control wise I really
feel as if Ghost managed to balance the split of realism and

It's got the looks and sometimes the
feel of a decent
arcade racing title, but the combination of a cringe - worthy story, an awful micro-transaction riddled progression system, and some questionable design decisions make this entry in the series one that doesn't live up to the name.
I remember being impressed by titles such as Lotus Challenge on the Amiga,
Race Drivin in the
Arcade or the mighty Geoff Crammond's Grand Prix but nothing really
felt new, fashion was changing, haircuts getting trimmed and it was time for a new wave of gaming technology.
The Xbox Live support isn't all that deep and doesn't really bring anything we haven't seen already from an online racer, but it still does bring a nice
feel for good fast paced
arcade style
races online.
It features that classic
arcade style of
racing and I
feel you won't be disappointed.

racing game that has more of an
arcade feel.
