In the sculptural work, I construct
compositions with minimalist,
architectural ceramic forms
which are coated with a film of directed or reflected light from adjacent, brightly colored surfaces.
One of the namesake founders of the legendary if short - lived BMPT collective — named for its constituent members Daniel Buren, Olivier Mosset, Michel Parmentier, and Niele Toroni — Buren has since built his reputation on his instantly recognizable leitmotif that runs through his oeuvre: a set of vertical stripe,
which serve to unite pictorial space with the surrounding
architectural space, and meld
composition with construction.
Their more expansive
compositions allow the viewer to ponder
architectural elements or the unusual collections of objects that she has rendered — a blue plastic doll imported from Ghana, an arched doorway and television set, an assortment of framed photographs, an empty balcony, oil lanterns on a tabletop —
which serve to represent absence and quietude in her otherwise densely textured works.

My paintings at this time were both perceptual and conceptual: smallish images of architecture, mostly Victorian houses, with their interesting balance of details upon large planes,
which were painted on site during summers away from the city; small still life paintings; larger figure
compositions ---- studio works ---- looking toward Italian High Renaissance painting, with one or two or three figures in an
architectural setting.
