digitisation that NZ libraries are doing is of unique material in their collections, much of it unpublished such as letters,
archives and photographs.
Its work in Daghestan encompasses a number of exciting projects: one of these, to digitise the Institute of History, Archaeology and Ethnography's
archive of oriental manuscripts in Makhachkala's Russian Academy of Sciences, involves a local training programme in
digitisation,
archiving, and conservation and outreach techniques.

The
digitisation of the our
archive collection was supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Big Lottery Fund.
A total of # 1.9 m from the HLF grant will pay for a major
digitisation project integrating the
archives into an online collection with the other # 3m going in to the # 45m pot, a target Tate set for itself in 2009.
In addition to my research and writing, she has been involved in a number of efforts for the documentation, preservation, curation, and
digitisation of materials in Zambia, including the creation and development of the Economic Policy Resource Centre based at SAIPAR, as well as working with the National
Archives of Zambia and several other organisations.
