It is high time that the causes
of arctic melting are categorized by what percentage of the melting they cause.
Anything
about arctic melt brings the critters out from under the rocks and I'd like to be better informed.
I specifically remarked that the 2 or 3
arctic melting events over the last decade or so appeared to mean that the ice was lower then than in the earlier events 60 years previously.
However, I don't agree that Al Gore is sensationalizing hurricanes — what Gore is saying is certainly in the realm of possibilities, and although Gore's general message is dead on (and I do think is being confirmed by events such as
rapid arctic melting), I don't expect 100 % certainty in his predictions (especially since it seems that the lessening of snow on Mt. Kilimanjaro isn't due to global warming.
Due to the animals» dependence on floating ice sheet, ringed seals are considered particularly vulnerable to
arctic melting associated with global warming.

the arctic melting by 2013 is a scary scenario, and a simplified dramatic statement.
There are variations in wind pattern, ocean currents and
arctic melting.
I think Rob is right,
