arms tear or disintegrate (they are usually a rubber compound) and the mounting
components (a pin and clevis system) will bang against each other when you drive over something hard, causing the banging sound.

The suspension is all stock with the exception of the upper and lower control -
arm bushings, idler
arm and sway bar
components being replaced.
In total, Federal - Mogul's Moog product team introduced more than 730 new control
arm SKUs, 100 coil springs, 98 complete strut assemblies, 90
bushings, 60 sway bar links, 54 tie rod ends and nearly 60 other
components, including ball joints and alignment products.
I replaced all the
components including struts, shocks, ball joints, tie rod ends and
bushings at the control
arms as well as the sway bar.
