Each of the applications will be subject to peer review in the context of five priority areas: supporting
effective teachers and principals; promoting science, technology, engineering and mathematics education; supporting the
implementation of high academic content standards and high - quality assessments; turning
around low - performing schools; and improving graduation rates in rural schools.

effective implementation is still nascent, especially in demonstrating a causal relationship between
implementation of a comprehensive and integrated community school strategy — not just individual program pieces — and increased student achievement.

effective instruction; transportation; public relations, parent custody issues, residency; student and staff discipline, evaluations; hiring; parent complaints; bullying; safety issues; budgeting; human resources issues; immigration questions / concerns; school safety, visibility in and out of school; championing the never ending requests and demands from the central office (one of the biggest challenges); the constantly increasing demands
around social media and communications; and the barrage of emails / texts demanding immediate response 24/7, just to name a few.
