You don't need a
hamster to be trained to exercise it, just get a cage with a exercising wheel, or get a plastic exercising
ball so it can run
around in it, but never let your
hamster be unsupervised
in the
ball, and never leave your
hamster in the
ball for more than 30 minutes, take it out at the 15 minute mark to get a drink then but it back
in the
ball for 15 minutes, you can exercise you
hamster in the plastic
ball for 2 - 3 times a day.
If you allow your
hamster to run
around in its
ball more than once a day you could just get away with keeping it
in a Ferplast duna cage.

Your
hamster should spend at least an hour or two outside of the habitat daily whether
in an exercise
ball, a playpen, or running
around a secure space under your supervision.
