Using the architectural specificity of the Slovenian Pavilion, a repurposed private residence, and referencing state architectural strategies, Cibic will create an immersive multi-media
installation that appropriates the entire space and explores
issues around national representation and framing as well as specific modes of exchange and reception.
Given that the works within this
installation reference topics that range from submerged histories and identities, to landscape, to the liminal positions that result from migration, to metaphysical states of being, to the site of the art museum, their movement through and
around these
issues suggests that our relationships to locations are always shifting.
The exhibition examines this parallelity of magic carpet and unmanned air vehicle using contemporary artistic means: objects, drawings, photographs, videos and
installations circle between fascination and horror
around a historical
issue of great topicality.
