Artist,» I
feel very openly
about it.
In the first part of the film, she can only talk
about the guilt she
feels about not spending enough time with her struggling
artist husband.
But ultimately that's what's great
about his filmmaking, and The Raid 2 in particular: Where the first film
felt like a gritty, hardcore tribute to the martial
artists and films that inspired it, this one blooms more fully, not only
feeling like its own entity, but offering much thrills that are significantly more democratic.
Guitarist Waddy Wachtel performs Hendrix - like takes on songs he was known to have covered, but without the music — without seeing him compose, get inspiration from, or perform any of it — it
feels like everyone's freaking out
about this great cover
artist who makes impressionistic soundscapes but doesn't know how to write a tune.
My hope was that through that genre, I could actually say something
about being a young
artist with huge dreams that don't
feel very realistic.
The movie also

feel somewhat responsible for, Volker Schlondorff's 1977 «Portrait of Valeska Gert,» the Weimar era dancer and cabaret star, which I saw in Bologna at Il Cinema Ritrovato in 2016 and raved
about.
At its best, it's flippant fun, but with its depiction of a hateful, haughty, tortured
artist who is losing touch with reality, it
feels much more like a film
about Woody Allen than it does Godard.
I tried to think like a Yahoo! commenter while watching Coogler's film because I
felt like the message of the film was already speaking to my choir and I wanted to consider how filmmakers and

What surprised me the most
about The Disaster
Artist is the fact that the film
feels like a love letter to dreamers while celebrating friendship, drive, and passion.

about herself, and that's the love story?
They encouraged all the
artists to be open and honest
about how we experience life as human beings, with the goal to get down to what Mann called «the true
feelings.»
Both movies view their subjects sympathetically, but only The Disaster
Artist wants to leave you
feeling good
about it.
The Disaster
Artist offers up a failure we're all invited to
feel good
about; I, Tonya presents one that we can share.
I also
feel good
about having worked really hard to establish myself as an
artist.
To return to The Shape of Water: however conflicted I
feel about its triumph, it is certainly the work of a real
artist, and someone who believes in immersive cinema, total cinema, cinema that enfolds you in a complete created world.
Too often, though, the result
feels like a pair of talented visual and film
