The emphasis in games such
as Armored Core is empowering the player through their own effort and understanding of how the game works and how it should be played.
Considering that Front Mission Evolved is playable in about three separate booths this year (despite being available in the shops already in Japan) it may be that From Software decided to wait this one out,
as Armored Core 5 is potentially quite similar in approach.
However considering Kotobukiya's strong track record of producing kits for gaming series such
as Armored Core, Virtual On and now Border Break, it's hopefully safe to assume that Lost Planet 2's Vital Suits will be recreated in a similarly well crafted manner.
More so than complex games such
as Armored Core, as at least the controls are consistent and logical in relation to the game's varied rule sets.

In addition, if the melted nuclear fuel proves bad enough — like Chernobyl's lethal mass of molten
core known
as the «elephant's foot» — it will have to be entombed for a number of years rather than removed, because of radiation risk from what is essentially a cooled shell of ceramic
armor surrounding a highly radioactive
core that remains hot and is still undergoing radioactive decay.
I believe that the organism will always try to balance itself, so if you notice that one chakra is out of whack, be kind to yourself
as it is not a sign of anything other than your Self trying to be in balance with all the
armor and defenses we pile around our sacred
core being.
It reminds me of some of my favorite free - roving mech games such
as the old

If you're thinking of buying
Armored Core V it's important to realize that the true value of the game comes from playing it
as a multiplayer experience.
I am not good at games in which one gets onto a robot and takes control of it, such
as Gungriffon or
Armored Core.
The other slightly odd thing is that this actually looks a lot like the tank AC seen in the original intro for
Armored Core V, so we're a bit stumped
as to why it is included in the Verdict Day range.
One element that is also quite interesting is that switching between your four potential weapons whilst very direct,
as it lacks the scrolling dead zone selection seen in the earlier
Armored Core games, each weapon has a very nice mechanical animation for its selection.
Just
as hard -
core hunters in real - life will sometimes make a trophy out of their game, what better way to display your hunting prowess in Monster Hunter than proudly creating entire
armor sets and weapons from the monsters» body parts?
Armored Core: Verdict Day will be the sixth entry into the series, and will allow players to work cooperatively or compete with one another
as they command squads of up to 20 Mechs for control of the various territories scattered across the game world.
Mentioning it here is pertinent though,
as the game's scale and functionality bear a very large resemblance to that of
Armored Core V.
Armored Core is regarded by many in the West
as a difficult and foreboding game.
These mercenaries are known
as Ravens and their ride of choice is the
Armored Core (also called an AC), a huge customisable mechanical avatar that's sole purpose is to lay waste to whatever is stupid enough to stand in its way.
In Verdict Day there are very direct references to events in For Answer
as well
as dovetailing with the original
Armored Core games back on the PSone.

as the pinnacle of the original PlayStation incarnations and perhaps even the best
Armored Core game of all time.

as a series, each major shift in functionality has met with a follow on title that polishes and improves the original setup.

It's not
as if it needs to be beautiful — most of
Armored Core's charm is wrapped up in its deep mechanics — but neither does it need to be an eyesore.

The same could be said for the in - game visuals, which remain exactly the same
as they were in
Armored Core V. Obviously, it's a lot to ask for a studio to come in and completely the redo the graphics for an expansion pack, but that doesn't change the fact that Verdict Day's visuals could do with some sprucing up.
Armed Seven has a distinctly
Armored Core / Real Robot feel, Supercharged Robot Vulkaiser looks like it would have fit right in with the cartoonish 70s Super Robot animes, and Witch - bot Meglilo has a cute female robot girl
as the protagonist.
As with all things Armored Core, of course, the UNAC AI can be customized with a huge number of instructions, which will thrill the hardcore as much as it will bewilder newcomer

There are obviously crap Japanese mecha games out there and most of those are to do with anime licenses, but almost all the
Armored Core games not to mention Virtual On
as well
as Steel Battalion are astoundingly good.
Even though
Armored Core Verdict Day is mostly focused on online play and is also the main reason to why you should try these games, it also comes with a pretty competent story mode and this might be a good way for newcomers to get behind the controls and information needed to know to succeed in this game,
as the tutorial only introduces the player to the basics of the game and nearly touches on the huge set of options available at your fingertips.
As the more recent
Armored Core games solved the issue by merging the functionality of ground based legs and hovers, to allow all AC's to traverse water (something that was normally the exclusive remit of the hover leg types in the PlayStation 2 games).

I'd expect a delay in
Armored Core 5 for that reason,
as priorities get shuffled, especially if they're working on the new Steel Battalion.

Last Raven is no exception
as even after thrashing the entirety of Ninebreaker, with all of its 150 Gold medals acquired for each of its training programs, the final entry to the PlayStation 2
Armored Core pantheon promptly blew me into oblivion on the first mission.

as a secret boss in Another Century's Episode R on the PS3, with the latter also being an unlockable

It's also very much a standalone game,
as you can't transfer money or parts from

As already said Metal Wolf Chaos is far removed from the
Armored Core series, lacking any deep customization.
The
Armored Core series is undeniably excellent,
as mecha aficionados will concur, but for those put off by its cerebral complexity MWC offers the perfect antithesis.
While the average score is dragged down by ten years of
Armored Core games, From has proven itself
as one of the most influential studios in the world after its more recent releases gained their own cult following.
On the subject of Virtual On vs
Armored Core, I see them both
as the Anti-thesis of each other.
You are referencing MechWarrior
as a game that «works» and that has a decidedly Western approach to gaming (despite using Japanese mecha designs for the most part), the comparison is flawed because the intent behind the creation of
Armored Core is wildly different.
As I recall,
Armored Core 1 wasn't too much different either... I would say that even though the game mechanics have changed, AC4 is still 90 % like AC1, and all other AC games like it.
In the same vein, games such
as Virtual On and
Armored Core are rife with what can only initially appear
as utterly bizarre design choices.
Armored Core as a series of games, outside of Japan at least, has always had a tough time of wooing the journalistic throng and punters alike.
Crunching an enemy
core under your metal boot or scoping out a target for an enormous missile barrage are satisfying
as hell, even if the frame of the title could stand for a little extra
armor.
But despite coming from the same studio that brought us the spectacular Dark Souls, the arrival of a new
Armored Core game on our shores will, for the most part, be met with the same enthusiasm
as a five pound book token.
