From the underwater family of shell-less creatures known
as nudibranchs, these sea slugs come in some of the brightest colors known to the animal world, and we sure love them around here.
Critters abound in the area too and you can encounter ghost pipefish and pygmy seahorses as well
as nudibranchs and flatworms.
After a nice breakfast we jumped again in the water, dive site was Barracuda Rock, were we saw big schools of Yellow Tail Fusiliers, Barracudas and a lot of different nudibranchs and a many macro life
as nudibranchs and pygmy sea horses.
Schools of manta rays, reef sharks and wobbegongs may grab the limelight, but the real beauty lies in the variety of colourful smaller creatures that you can see, such
as nudibranchs, shrimps, crabs and other crustaceans, pipefish and seahorses.

With these soft corals we often find our macro like Squat lobsters both hairy and common, squat shrimps, translucent anemone shrimp,

This week in Belongas... we have an outstanding amount of Redtooth trigger fish, sea cobras,
nudibranchs, white tip reef sharks and eagle rays but this week its been the mobula rays that have made diving special
as they have been counted on every dive.
Coral Garden offers more variety and is loved by photographers for the diversity of macro marine life
as well
as ribbon eels, anemone fish, mantis shrimp, countless
nudibranchs and yet more colourful reef fish..
At 40m deep, you will see thousands of
nudibranchs scattered all over the seabed
as far
as you can see; this, together with large schools of fish creating magnificent patterns, makes for an incredible diving experience.
Photographers who choose to dive Nitrox in Lembeh are often times the ones left with 10 extra minutes to shoot the rare
Nudibranch or Octopus that invariably shows up just
as everyone else's available bottom time is getting low.
The reefs are home to many small Critters such
as Ornate Ghost Pipe fish,
Nudibranch, Leaf Scorpion fish, Frogfish, Garden eels, a wide range of shrimps, Porcelain and orangutan Crabs and our cute Pygmy Seahorses.
And
as the main highlight are the Manta Rays, normally the rest of marine life is ignored or missed... Apart from other «big» stuff like bamboo sharks or turtles, the rest don't get much attention; but when looking closely and slowly, you can find a huge variety of
nudibranch, shrimps, crabs... And today, one of our great guides, Baron, found a tiny white clown Frogfish at Manta Point on Lembongan!!!
Then
as Dani was practicing her shutdown drills at Nudi Falls they bumped into the rare Lembeh Pikachu
nudibranch!
Turtles, barracudas and reef sharks call the reefs their home
as well, and you can also find wall - critters such
as scorpion fish,
nudibranch, lionfish, and seahorses hidden on the walls.
And the cast of critters does not end there, Lembeh also features lacy scorpionfish, flamboyant cuttlefish, harlequin shrimp,
as well
as some of the wildest species of
nudibranchs known to man.
We also see Spiny Lobsters
as well
as different
Nudibranchs inside of the caverns.
From
nudibranch to sharks, from turtles to clownfish, we saw each time a full spectrum of marine life
as we navigated around the bommies, the canyons and the big walls of corals.
You may be lucky and encounter reef sharks, but for sure you will find surgeon fish, bat fish, moray eels, stingrays, trevally,
as well
as many small Critters such
as Ornate Ghost Pipe fish,
Nudibranch, Leaf Scorpion fish, Frogfish, Garden eels, a wide range of shrimps.
Macro enthusiasts will be equally impressed
as the region is plentiful with
nudibranchs, clown frogfish, ghost pipefish, ribbon eels, a variety of lobsters, crabs, and shrimp.
An eagle eye can be rewarded with sights such
as pygmy seahorses, sea snakes (and snake eels), frogfish, tiger prawn, cuttlefish and various
nudibranchs.
Various eels,
nudibranchs and a wide range of clownfish make their home here,
as well
as cowfish and cuttlefish at the base of the reef.
Other than that you can expect: Frogfish, Ghostpipefish, all sorts of cephalopods and Crustaceans
as well
as colourful
Nudibranchs.
Additonally various animals such
as sharks, eels, octopus, stingray, crayfish,
nudibranch and over 150 other different fish species can be seen.
At slack tide, when there is no current at all, you can stop to see the smaller creatures such
as Blue ribbon eels, Orangutan crabs and some
nudibranchs.
The area is a haven for photographers
as they can focus on the smaller species such
as multicoloured
nudibranches.
Many unusual species like blue ring octopus, various species of frog fish and
as many
nudibranches as you want live just below purple soft coral encrusted pilings.
Pigmy seahorses, different species of
nudibranch can be seen
as well.
There is a surprising amount of fish life here,
as well
as being a great place to hunt for some beautiful
nudibranchs.
The Japanese shipwreck in Lipah Bay is quite a small wreck, but it's overgrown with corals in places, such
as around the ship's propeller, with large gorgonian fans and sponges that have become playgrounds for schools of small reef fish,
nudibranchs and varieties of other sea critters that macro photographers will love.
Making a great spot for a night dive, it's home to
nudibranchs, stingrays, scorpion fish, octopus
as well
as some great corals.
As for the findings on this dive, a few to be mentioned are Bubble Coral Shrimp, Bargibanti Pygmy Seahorse,
nudibranchs, Papuan Scorpionfish, in between others.
These dive sites are a must for photographers
as you can expect to find a host of different
nudibranch, various crustaceans including harlequin crabs, moray eels, turtles, schools of colourful antheas and damsels
as well
as scorpionfish and other interesting bottom dwellers.
Toya Pakeh dive site around Nusa Penida is a nice reef with interesting coral and
nudibranch as well...
Some of the highlights include brilliantly colored coral varieties with an impressive selection of inhabitants, such
as seahorses,
nudibranchs, butterfly fish, clownfish and angelfish.
Among the marine life seen, some of the highlights to be mentioned were Bubble Coral Shrimp,
nudibranchs, including the genus Phidiana and Orangutan Crab for the macro lovers
as well
as a Hawksbill Turtle and the first Wobbegong Shark of the trip.
As usual, our divemasters spend their time looking for critters, and some of the ones spotted included:
nudibranchs, crabs, like the Decorator Crab, shrimps, like the Marbled Shrimp and scorpionfishes.
For «big fish» aficionados, whale sharks, manta rays, leopard sharks and other pelagics are a major draw whilst macro-life such
as seahorse, frogfish, ghost pipefish and an array of
nudibranch and crustaceans can all be seen amongst the reefs.
