For those of you who don't know, Nook Press (formally known
as Pubit) is the only way indie authors can upload their ebooks to the Barnes & Noble site directly.
(Its platform was earlier known
as Pubit!)

In a Fail that makes the keyword screw up (still not fixed, btw) seem like small potatoes, last night, many
Pubit authors, myself included, became aware that our books were marked
as Public Domain (and -LSB-...]
However bad the Customer Pricing is, it's the same
as it was under
PubIt!
Many authors use the Amazon platform in conjunction with other self - publishing companies such
as Barnes and Noble
Pubit and Bookbrewer «Get Published.»

as well
as providing material on KDP Select and formatting your file with Scrivener.
I make almost
as much on Sony
as I do on Barnes and Noble through
Pubit.
Now, however, with the advent of the Amazon KDP program
as well
as Barnes and Noble's
PubIt program, authors now have an alternative.
Now if they had rolled out BookBrewer
as true competition for Amazon's Digital Text Platform or even Barnes and Nobles currently issue - ridden
Pubit!
If you're selling more through Smashwords
as it is, maybe you should take down the
Pubit version to take advantage of the 60 % rate.
I'm not sure if it's possible to tell if a book actually went through smashwords or
pubit, even though smashwords is listed
as the publisher.
-- It took me five minutes to save -
as and zip the files, add the copyright extra into Smashwords, then load the files up to Kindle,
Pubit, and Smashwords.
This new program is comparable to rival programs such
as Barnes and Noble
PUBIT and the Amazon DTP.
Once everything is showing up
as it should (and you've verified by saving and reopening in Sigil), THEN go upload the Epub file to
Pubit!
That deal looks
as though it may have precipitated this closer partnership, which allows Nook to offer collaboration and more robust content creation vs. what was available through
PubIt!.
As luck would have it, the re-acquisition of the rights to her books came along almost at exactly the same time that Barnes & Noble launched its digital self - publishing platform
PubIt!
Whether or not the freemium model will work with ebooks like it has with music and movies remains to be seen, especially given the access American readers have to platforms such
as Amazon's Kindle Store, Barnes & Noble's
PubIt!
Many companies such
as Amazon with their Digital Text Publishing Platform, and Barnes and Noble with their
PubIT program, have been dominating the market place for self - publishing.
As Chris Meadows points out in an article for Teleread, Kobo has not finalized whether or not this will be an ebook - only digital platform like Kindle Direct Publishing or
PubIt!

as though

Barnes & Noble's
PubIt self - publishing platform just went live over the weekend (I don't know if October 1 still counts
as «summer» — maybe here in South Florida it does?)

as you can especially if you are transferring from the old
PubIt!
I don't see this
as just a blog; there's a lot of potential to do new things now that platforms like Amazon's KDP and Barnes & Noble's
Pubit are available for publishing original content.
I've been pretty lucky with my novels
as ebooks (and yes, the royalties are easy to figure out) and yes, I agree with you, B&N's
PubIt is a little odd.
Before you get all gotcha - y,
PubIt did that, I have been screaming at them for weeks to fix it, and if it WAS a marketing ploy, it would be a really bad one,
as the book has not sold well on B&N anyway.
As with
PubIt and Smashwords, you can choose not to apply DRM.
You can publish on it using Smashwords — and,
as I suggested with
PubIt, you might want to compare your sales of short stories (or anything priced under $ 2.99) via the Smashwords premium catalog with sales directly through Amazon to see where you get the most money for your time investment — or you can go straight to Amazon through the KDP platform.
