Data Discs, a UK - based record label known for re-releasing classic SEGA soundtracks in vinyl form such
as Shenmue and Panzer Dragoon, is partnering up with the publisher once again to do the same for the highly anticipated 2D platformer.
Some have described Sega's Yakuza
as Shenmue without a humorless eunuch as its main character.
If this third party exclusive is a game that would never be released otherwise, such
as Shenmue III, then there should be no issue.
GTA and RDR does this sometimes as well
as Shenmue.
As soon as you start expecting it to be like Sleeping Dogs or GTA you lose what made the game so special, and to this day there are no games that offer the same things
as Shenmue did over 15 years ago.
I know they won't use the same or similar engine
as Shenmue II, but it would be pretty nostalgic if they did.

This delay comes
as somewhat of a surprise considering that only a few months ago Cedric Biscay, a producer on
Shenmue III, tweeted that the game was going to launch later this year.
Along with titles such
as Metroid Prime and
Shenmue II, it shows how the advancement of hardware leads to the advancement of the overall game - playing experience.
The trouble is the Yakuza franchise is nothing like Grand Theft Auto, being more of an action adventure title that comes across
as a combination of
Shenmue and Dynamite Deka.
This is exciting news for
Shenmue fans; not only are they getting HD versions of the original 2 games but it looks like plans are in place for a 3rd game
as well.
As dedicated GameCrate readers likely know by now, I have always considered
Shenmue and its sequel
Shenmue II to be two of my absolute favorite video games of all time.
In a similar fashion to Yu Suzuki's
Shenmue, they serve
as a quaint reminder of Nintendo's heritage and early successes, offering titles such
as Excitebike, Donkey Kong and Golf alongside more obscure examples such
as Clu Clu Land.

shenmue as it once was but brought into modern era visually that would be amazing.

I can say that with their assistance on the production and marketing end, and in Sony's case with some publishing support
as well, Ys Net is able to use more of the money we collect through Kickstarter purely for
Shenmue 3's development.
I could go on about Uprising, such
as how it features one of my favorite difficulty based mechanics or was one of the first games I really got into StreetPassing with, or how its soundtrack brought together the likes of Motoi Sakuraba (known for his work within the Tales series), Yuzo Koshiro (prior works including Streets of Rage and
Shenmue), Masafumi Takada (the man behind the music for God Hand, the Danganronpa series and multiple games by Suda51) to create one of my favorite modern soundtracks in all of video games.
The New Sakura Wars game is listed with other titles that are suppose to release
as packaged goods including: Yakuza 6: The Song of LIfe,
Shenmue I & II and «New Sakura Wars (working title)».

But everyone has their favourites and this game is quite a collection, such
as Dr. Eggman, AiAi, Amigo and even some very obscure ones such
as Ryo Kazuki (

Corey Marshall, famously known for his role
as Ryo Hazuki in the
Shenmue series has teased some voice acting work on an unspecified SEGA title.
On stage, they introduced what we refer to at Finger Guns
as the Holy Trinity — The Last Guardian,
Shenmue III & The Final Fantasy VII Remake.
I daydreamed about playing a game like
Shenmue as a child (albeit in the Robotech universe)-- that scope, that attention to detail, and the open world was the stuff my videogame dreams were made of.
I often cite

I would love to play
Shenmue I and II again in HD, but to be honest, my faith in Sega is not
as strong
as it once was and I have a hard time believing they will do it.
