It's not on the same caliber of comedy
as Superbad or The Hangover, but it's certainly better than Due Date and Just Go with It.
The film has the same unexpected, unabashed tenderness
as SUPERBAD, but in the absolute last place anyone would ever think of looking: a fast - paced and extremely bloody crime comedy.

Final Verdict: Nowhere near
as impressive
as it is made out to be, but
Superbad is still a well - acted teen comedy with a lot more heart than any other contender in the genre.
The types of performances he gives in movies like 21 Jump Street (along with 22 Jump Street on Friday, which is just
as good, trust me there), Funny People, Knocked Up, and
Superbad are tremendous, but they're very different than what he's shown us in Moneyball and The Wolf of Wall Street.
However, Jonah Hill has rejected the playbook that was pre-written for him after
Superbad and built a career unlike any actor Hollywood has ever seen by turning down typecast roles and specifically using key roles to springboard him to wider possibilities — thus setting him up
as a serious dramatic actor, a major creative force, and an unexpected streetwear ambassador.
If you are a fan of Michael Cera's previous work (
Superbad, Juno) you will probably enjoy the film, although I contend it isn't quite
as good
as both of those other films mentioned.
When Tatum and Hill are on screen together and allowed to just bounce off one another hilarity ensues
as the two have perfected a kind of rhythm and chemistry that I doubt anyone could have expected from the stars of Step Up and
Superbad back before the first movie came out.
Perhaps the film needn't have encroached close to the three - hour mark to tell its tale,
as side characters played by Cuba Gooding Jr (Daddy Day Camp, Norbit), who portrays «Mr. Untouchable» Nicky Barnes, and Kevin Corrigan (
Superbad, The Dog Problem) feel more like pit stops for character contrast than crucial characters to push the plot forward.
In the spirit of such classics
as AMERICAN PIE, THE SURE THING and
SUPERBAD, this wild romp follows Ian, Lance and their third musketeer, the spunky and gorgeous tomboy, FELICIA (Amanda Crew),
as they set out in Ian's older brother's beloved ’69 GTO.
Superbad,
as an experience, was about enjoying time with your friends, shooting the shit like you normally would, but still having an unspoken awareness that you really loved one another.

as extensive, ranging from all your favourite comedy films from
Superbad all the way to Trainwreck.

Superbad, is just annoying here) or Mark Strong, even though he does at one point or another in the film.
Instead of being content with its position
as the funniest movie I can remember seeing,
Superbad has to go and turn in a loony coda, taking all kinds of shortcuts with character development, just so it can have its sentimental, significant ending.
Screenwriters Evan Goldberg (Seth Rogen's collaborator on «
Superbad» and «Pineapple Express») and Jay Baruchel (who co-stars
as Doug's hockey - obsessed, potty - mouthed best pal) strike a delicate balance between Doug's guilelessness and his capacity for violence, and the loony balance of the two — played with expert precision by Scott — gives the film its comic zest.
