Fall and winter are known in Ayurveda

Vata Pain: Trauma, accident and neuralgia
as well
as constipation, flatulence, joint or bone aches are
Vata pain.

Vata is dry and cold, it is the absolute worst idea for
Vata to eat dry and cold foods such
as sandwiches, cereal with milk, salads, or crackers.
This is because when Pitta or Kapha blocks
Vata, the pain masks
as Pitta or Kapha pain.
High
vata in the body creates: restlessness, dry skin, dry eyes, constipation, bloating, gas, thinness, weight loss or a lack of healthy fat (also seen
as a lack of self - love), varicose veins, tremors, coldness, poor circulation, tightness, twitching, pain, and insecurity.
Its warming and moisturizing benefits are suitable for individuals of
Vata constitution
as well.
Additionally, in Ayurvedic medicine, ashwagandha is used for its «grounding» properties for those with a high
Vata as it aids in calming the mind and promoting restful sleep.
However, in high
Vata (Air) conditions, such
as severe depletion, meat is often used
as a medicine.
Sweet and sour fruits such
as oranges, bananas, grapes, peaches, melons, fresh figs, sweet pineapple and mangoes all have the sweet taste that
Vata needs.
Vata acne is usually not caused by oil
as you would expect, but from the opposite: systemic dehydration.
The skimmed fat, however, can be used later
as a cooking fat or added back to the diet
as a nutrient, such
as using marrow fat (majja) for
vata disorders including immunodeficiency and weakness.
Before the equinox we wrote about preparing for
Vata season, a time associated with the untethered elements of Air and Space and the mutable energy of the wind; these outside shifts can easily cause anxiety can rise: We have
as much to do, but seemingly less time to do it in.
All pranayama helps to balance
vata and can be used for constipation in one of two ways: either for stress and anxiety relief with practices such
as honeybee breathing (Bhramari Pranayama) or to ignite the power of digestion through practices such
as bellows breath (Bhastrika Pranayama).
As a result,
vatas can help avoid things like digestive issues, irritability, constipation and anxiety.
As wind, cold, and dry weather continues,
Vata energy builds up in the environment and can cause a
Vata imbalance in the body.
As the fall season begins, the predominance of Pitta dosha, which has been steadily accumulating over the summer months, gives way to a rise in
Vata dosha.
The change from
Vata season to Kapha season is not
as clear
as the change from Kapha to Pitta or Pitta to
Vata.
Gentle stretching exercise such
as Yoga asanas and Sun Salutations help pacify
Vata dosha and the twisting motions can massage the digestive organs and increase oxygen delivery and blood flow.
Avoid back bends, such
as bow, cobra, pigeon, and arch, which increase
vata, or hold them briefly.
Ayurveda dictates that constipation is a
Vata condition caused by low water and fiber intake
as well
as poor exercise habits.
One other think, is I dropped tomatoes / patatoes / peppers / etc.,
as I read that they are toxic for the joints of
Vata doshas.
Additionally,
as I have
Vata in my constitution (I am
Vata - Pitta), I would get cold feet and would need to not only warm up my feet before bed, but sometimes during the night,
as they would be freezing when I would wake up.
Your predominant dosha is Pitta, yet you may be a bi-doshic type with strong
Vata or Kapha characteristics
as well.
