In a fascinating study linking risk taking to physical responses to stress, John Coates, a research fellow at the University of Cambridge, studied the impact of market volatility on 17 London
based traders, and found that their cortisol (stress hormone) levels rose 68 % over an eight
day period
as volatility increased.
