The parable of the
mustard seed in verses 30 - 32 has two points: (1) just
as the tiny
mustard seed can grow (in the Mediterranean area) into a fairly tall tree, so the humble start of the kingdom of God does not preclude a victorious ending; (2) the kingdom is now present, and all nations and peoples («birds of the air» was a phrase used
