I know the recipe is
listed as a sheet cake, but the density of the finished cake might be changed a bit by baking in layers, lemon curd in between layers and then the whipped topping to finish or one might slice the sheet cake in half, spread lemon curd between layers, and then top with the whipped cream.
Yesterday, I baked Chocolate Layer Cake (p. 106), with Chocolate Buttercream Frosting (p. 91) to test out the
recipe as sheet cake for Douglas, (a reader who doesn't like layer cake).
It was my grandmother's favorite and she made
it as a sheet cake.
I made
it as a sheet cake because the thought of dividing a round cake into 18 pieces so that I could know how many points I was eating was too nerve - wracking.
Technical question for you: I'd like to make
this as a sheet cake (12x18x2) and a «smash» cake (6 × 2) for the birthday girl.
