Loot boxes in Destiny 2 are called Bright Engrams and stashed within these boxes are a number of mods that confer some particularly powerful benefits, such
as ability cooldown reduction or the ability to change the elemental damage type of an Energy or Power weapon.

You need to keep in mind the
cooldowns of the different
abilities, how many hits and how much damage the heroes make compared to enemy stamina and health,
as well
as what spells to use and in which order, and which enemies to prioritize.

The exotic perk, Praise the Sun, while being a little tip of the hat to the Dark Souls series, decreases all
ability cooldowns while Radiance is active,
as well
as greatly increasing your agility.
Apart from the extensive skill trees, each character still has their own Action Skill — a powerful
ability with a
cooldown, such
as Nisha» sability to automatically aim at enemies and gain multiple weapon buffs, or Claptrap's random, wild buffs and effects.

It sounds a bit overpowered, but without knowing the caveats associated with her, such
as cooldown timers for her
abilities, or even how the maps and other characters will be balanced, it's hard to say.
Serving partly
as a quasi-tutorial for the game's wider multiplayer systems — enabling you to unlock and select weapons and Star Cards (which offer access to interchangeable,

abilities)-- the short - but - sweet campaign weaves a canonical story that takes you into the heart of the main saga, through its immediate aftermath and beyond.
Presumably combat gets better later on
as you unlock more skills, but to start it's mostly just watching your character auto - attack while waiting on the unnecessarily long
cooldowns of your few
abilities.
Not much is known about what these
abilities will be for each subclass but the blog specifies that Warlocks will be able to use it
as a healing / buff area while Hunters will use it
as a shadow - step type dodge roll that will be on
cooldown.
Weapons and
abilities along with
cooldown timers and progression bars are displayed
as distinct icons and often with a translucent background for clarity.
These generally consist of one movement based
ability, one grenade - type
ability and one powerful
ability on a long
cooldown that works
as an ultimate.
Crystals were spent on loot boxes that offered a random selection of weapons and Star Cards which grant passive
abilities such
as healing after kills or lower
cooldown times for
abilities.
Each Hero has two special
abilities, with
cooldowns, mapped to the gamepad bumpers on the console versions of the game,
as well
as an ultimate
ability which is charged up by kills and general good play.
