The news will come
as a relief
to many
lawyers, who feared fixed costs for all cases up
to # 250,000 —
as previously suggested by Jackson LJ — would make many cases commercially unviable, curbing
access to justice for many people with valid claims.
For this reason,
lawyers must establish policies and procedures, and periodically train employees, subordinates and others assisting in the delivery of legal services, in the use of reasonably secure methods of electronic communications with clients,
as well
as on reasonable measures for
access to and storage of those communications.
In June 2017, the ABS Working Group presented an interim report
to Convocation outlining a proposal
to enable
lawyers and paralegals
to deliver legal services through civil society organizations, such
