tubs, so many rooms, the rooms are only a certain size and so on — and these factors do impact on the way a labouring and
birthing woman is «managed»,
as well
as impacting on her freedom to labour the way that comes naturally to her.
If you're planning to have a water birth
as I am, you'll need a
birthing tub (if your midwife does not provide) and a new hose to fill the
tub up with.
Some women may choose to deliver their placenta in the
tub as well, but if not, you simply need to leave the
tub, and wrap yourself and the baby in warm, dry towels and relax in the
birthing room until your placenta has been delivered.
