Painful Menstruation, Dysmenorrhea: Hypothyroidism is associated with painful menstrual periods, known
as dysmenorrhea.
Almost 90 % of women around the world at some point have severely painful menstrual periods, known
as dysmenorrhea.
This condition, known medically
as dysmenorrhea, causes pain in the lower back and abdomen.

as traditionally prescribed for each cycle, provides earlier relief for moderate to severe menstrual cramps —
dysmenorrhea — according to researchers at Penn State College of Medicine.
Primary
dysmenorrhea is normal and very common,
as it's correlated with the natural shedding of the uterine lining in preparation for the start of the next menstrual cycle.
As a dietary supplement, magnesium is often recommended to those suffering from severe asthma, migraines, arrhythmia, leg cramps, constipation, and
dysmenorrhea.
So, especially in women, men have their own host of issues when it comes to hormonal imbalance, but women, because our hormones are cycling and going through different phases all month long, we're more susceptible to problems with proper hormone regulation, especially in the face of female endocrine disorders such
as PMS, PMDD, PCOS, all of the acronyms, endometriosis, fibrocystic breasts, and just
dysmenorrhea, so painful and heavy menstruation, or irregular cycles.
As you probably know, BCPs are prescribed, mostly off label, for acne, hirsutism, painful periods (
dysmenorrhea, including endometriosis), irregular menstruation, heavy periods (menorrhagia), reduction in risk of ovarian and endometrial cancers, and improvement in premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD).
One more thing worth mentioning is that I will be discussing primary
dysmenorrhea (caused by the reasons mentioned in the next paragraph)
as opposed to secondary
dysmenorrhea (commonly caused by endometriosis and / or uterine fibroids).
The standard medical treatment for
dysmenorrhea (
as reported by the OCAG) «may include medications and techniques» to relieve pain.
But over the years, these OCPs have helped many people
as treatments for
dysmenorrhea, menorrhagia, endometriosis, menstrual - related migraines, acne, uterine fibroids, and polycystic ovarian syndrome.
