That looks like very good transfer business for us
as we got rid of sulky Sanchez and got two very talented
players in return, and
Coquelin, Walcott, Giroud and Debuchy hardly got a game for our
first team anyway, so we have saved quite a lump off our wage bill
as well which will help pay Mesut Ozil's improved wages!
but more importantly it should tell you that wenger no longer has a grasp on the strengths and weaknesses of his
team, or, indeed, what kind of football he is trying to play... heard a lot of people waffling on about the end of tika tak... we never got there because too many
first team players lack the skills to do that kind of football... ramsey walcott giroud merteshaker
coquelin are not that kind of
player... nor do we rapidly convert defence in to attack
as we used to or press
teams in their own half..
Maybe he's not in fitt but the talent never leave. If you take a new
player and wait him for developing you can wait
as mutch
as for Walcott. But Wilshere is one of the best English
players after Rooney, at the same level with Sterling I can say.Is a briliant
player when he's in fitt, let's be honest when he play bad, our
team play bad to, if he wasn't injuried now when our
team play well, I'm sure he play well too.We need a new midfielder this summer, I think Gotze could be perfect for creation with Wilshere, and
Coquelin in their back to secure defence.I don't know why but when I see this to
player's
first, in 2010 - 2011, I see them
as better
as Iniesta - Xavi.
Ok, but lett a complete comment man, if you sell all the central midfielders, who you buy to replace them?Wilshere is still a full of potential young
player, we need them if not in the
first 11,
as backup
player.And remain
Coquelin for CM / DM, that is all for you?Or you want to see again Ozil / Cazorla
as CM and the
team doesn't play anything?
I still don't understand people's obsession with boxing
players in to a specific role... The whole «true DM» is a dying breed, even
Coquelin is arguably something else considering the advanced positions he takes up often in front of Santi and takes major risks in winning the ball back for us... IMO, the reason
Coquelin has had such a successful integration into the
first team is that he focussed incredibly hard on the basics of his role
first and foremost before adding other elements to his game (long - balls, driving runs into space, more aggressive ball movement in general) it's not rocket science to tell a
player to curb the attacking side of their game and focus primarily on defence before attack... Nor is it that hard to see that playing in a midfield pairing with either Ramsey or Cazorla is going to be different
as well.
Arsenal currently have Xhaka, Cazorla, Ramsey, Wilshere,
Coquelin and Elneny
as regular
first team central midfielders, meaning that's six
players competing for just two positions on the pitch.
I say if wenger doesn't strengthen the squad by mid july he should go because if anyone hasn't realize we are going 12 years without the premier league and untill us fans wake up and see that wenger is done we will end up like Liverpool pathetic and holding on to past glory get that specialist in failure out soon like come on we are short on bloody
first team players and we will be going in next season with
coquelin as our
first choice cdm and Walcott
as our striker lol pathetic
But when people are saying we should sign X-player who contributed well last season while playing every single game for «depth» sure, on paper it looks great, but a lot of
players hit patches of form that may not necessarily be given that opportunity here,
as there may be someone else in the squad who hits the ground running and contributes straight away... If
Coquelin, Arteta, Flamini, Wilshere, Ramsey, AOC, Ozil, Cazorla, Rosicky are all fit and firing, I think you're sorely mistaken if you think anything but a truly world - class midfielder would be looking at those names and not potentially evaluating their
first -
team opportunities.
Even after season after season we see youngsters that Wenger has shown faith in establish themselves
as key members of the
first -
team (
Coquelin, Ramsey, Bellerin) some fans still question the
player Wenger felt was ready to combat one of the best midfield's the world has ever seen at the age of 16 and was arguably the best performance a 16 year old has ever achieved!
love your articles galen this just proves the sheer stupidity and arrogance of our manager what are
players like ozil and giroud still doing at arsenal after their
first season ozil should probably be sold back to shalke in a soft league and who knows he might play his best football and it might help in his national
team form cazorla is a good
player but not world class he can not be classified on the same level against
players like silva iniesta and the old arsenal fabregas sanchez is also good but he needs to add more to his game for him to be put on the same level with world beaters like suarez neymar and bale koscienly is also good but he has too many injury troubles
coquelin is a class
player but he is not world class he is good technically but not a dominant midfielder like schneiderlin and fernandinho
as for cech he is there among the best keepers and he is the only positive in this arsenal
team.Needs to work on his distribution though the back four is solid but has alot of light weights strong and powerful foward might find it easy
As our special injury page on Just Arsenal shows, Arsene Wenger is currently having to do without seven
first team players in Wilshere, Welbeck, Sanchez, Rosicky, Cazorla,
Coquelin and Arteta and that is only because our French midfielder Mathieu Flamini is set to be fit again for the Newcastle game on Saturday.
Francis
Coquelin has looked another impressive young
player to make a
first -
team place his own in the absence of more senior stars, though Chamberlain's injury will still be a blow
as the 21 - year - old struggles to get a run of games going.
But just last year we saw Bellerin and
Coquelin emerge
as serious
first -
team players..
