as holding midfielder with pogba providing the flare we shall win the game.

as his

Another commonly
held belief among Arsenal fans is that our central
midfield could do

Midfield is a very different matter.Arsenal still desperately need a proper defensive central player.Ozil in this current side can not be considered anything more than a luxury. All of Bournemouth's creativity will come down the flanks so it's necessary to put players on to the pitch who are prepared to fulfill their defensive duties. This also means that unless Ramsey can work out that he's playing in
midfield not
as a number 10 he has no place on the team either.
lets all thank arsene for finally doing the right thing only time will tell but have we finally signed the DM we need STRONG MINDED NO
HOLD BAR
MIDFIELDER WE HAVE ALL CRAVED, but lets take it back we all know it will take 2 or 3 more like minded players to make us great again, he has tricked us all buy buying one superstar in the last 3 windows ALEXIS, OZIL and CHEC great players but can't do it all on their own, spending huge amount of money and saying we can buy the best players, on the surface this looks great we are buying top top players big prices but instead of spending his usual 50 mill on 2, 3, 4, 0r 5 players he has pulled the wool over are eyes
with 1 superstar thinking the fans are that dumb enough to believe it, infact he has never spent his budget only balanced on sales too purchases, i love arsenal but this summer i hope for more he needs to do that consistently through out the team spend the same amount on the team stop balancing the american owners, grow a pair say yes we will buy a top defender and a world class striker, stan we love arsenal please be one of us do whats needed then you will fell proud

as our
holding midfield choices.
Sorry for continually being ignorant and missing the point («your» point to be precise)-- but playing one - twos
with Alexis in the opposition penalty area in the Copa and being deployed at the head of Juve's
midfield diamond is not convincing me that his coaches / managers see his best position
as a disciplined
holding midfield player.
This is an incredibly difficult question to answer for a variety of reasons, most importantly because over the years our once vaunted «beautiful» style of play has become a shadow of it's former self, only to be replaced by a less than stellar «plug and play» mentality where players play out of position and adjustments / substitutions are rarely forthcoming before the 75th minute... if you look at our current players, very few would make sense in the traditional Wengerian system... at present, we don't have the personnel to move the ball quickly from deep - lying position, efficient one touch
midfielders that can make the necessary through balls or the disciplined and pacey forwards to stretch defences into wide positions, without the aid of the backs coming up into the final 3rd, so that we can attack the defensive lanes in the same clinical fashion we did years ago... on this current squad, we have only 1 central defender on staf, Mustafi, who seems to have any prowess in the offensive zone or who can even pass two zones through so that we can advance play quickly out of our own end (I have seen some inklings that suggest
Holding might have some offensive qualities but too early to tell)... unfortunately Mustafi has a tendency to get himself in trouble when he gets overly aggressive on the ball... from our backs out wide, we've seen pace from the likes of Bellerin and Gibbs and the spirited albeit offensively stunted play of Monreal, but none of these players possess the skill - set required in the offensive zone for the new Wenger scheme which requires deft touches, timely runs to the baseline and consistent crossing, especially when Giroud was playing and his ratio of scored goals per clear chances was relatively low (better last year though)... obviously I like Bellerin's future prospects,
as you can't teach pace, but I do worry that he regressed last season, which was obvious to Wenger because there was no way he would have used Ox
as the right side wing - back so often knowing that Barcelona could come calling in the off - season, if he thought otherwise...
as for our
midfielders, not a single one, minus the more confident Xhaka I watched played for the Swiss national team a couple years ago, who truly makes sense under the traditional Wenger model... Ramsey
holds onto the ball too long, gives the ball away cheaply far too often and abandons his defensive responsibilities on a regular basis (doesn't score enough recently to justify): that being said, I've always thought he does possess a little something special, unfortunately he thinks so too... Xhaka is a little too slow to ever boss the
midfield and he tends to telegraph his one true strength, his long ball play: although I must admit he did get a bit better during some points in the latter part of last season... it always made me wonder why whenever he played
with Coq Wenger always seemed to play Francis in a more advanced role on the pitch...
as for Coq, he is way too reckless at the wrong times and has exhibited little offensive prowess yet finds himself in and around the box far too often... let's face it Wenger was ready to throw him in the trash heap when injuries forced him to use Francis and then he had the nerve to act like this was all part of a bigger Wenger constructed plan... he like Ramsey, Xhaka and Elneny don't offer the skills necessary to satisfy the quick transitory nature of our old offensive scheme or the stout defensive mindset needed to protect the defensive zone so that our offensive players can remain aggressive in the final third... on the front end, we have Ozil, a player of immense skill but stunted by his physical demeanor that tends to offend, the fact that he's been played out of position far too many times since arriving and that the players in front of him, minus Sanchez, make little to no sense considering what he has to offer (especially Giroud); just think about the quick counter-attack offence in Real or the space and protection he receives in the German National team's
midfield, where teams couldn't afford to focus too heavily on one individual... this player was a passing «specialist» long before he arrived in North London, so only an arrogant or ignorant individual would try to reinvent the wheel and / or not surround such a talent
with the necessary components... in regards to Ox, Walcott and Welbeck, although they all possess serious talents I see them in large part
as headless chickens who are on the injury table too much, lack the necessary first - touch and / or lack the finishing flair to warrant their inclusion in a regular starting eleven; I would say that, of the 3, Ox showed the most upside once we went to a back 3, but even he became a bit too consumed by his pending contract talks before the season ended and that concerned me a bit... if I had to choose one of those 3 players to stay on it would be Ox due to his potential
as a plausible alternative to Bellerin in that wing - back position should we continue to use that formation... in Sanchez, we get one of the most committed skill players we've seen on this squad for some years but that could all change soon, if it hasn't already of course... strangely enough, even he doesn't make sense given the constructs of the original Wenger offensive model because he
holds onto the ball too long and he will give the ball up a little too often in the offensive zone... a fact that is largely forgotten due to his infectious energy and the fact that the numbers he has achieved seem to justify the means... finally, and in many ways most crucially, Giroud, there is nothing about this team or the offensive system that Wenger has traditionally employed that would even suggest such a player would make sense
as a starter... too slow, too inefficient and way too easily dispossessed... once again, I think he has some special skills and, at times, has showed some world - class qualities but he's lack of mobility is an albatross around the necks of our offence... so when you ask who would be our best starting 11, I don't have a clue because of the 5 or 6 players that truly deserve a place in this side, 1 just arrived, 3 aren't under contract beyond 2018 and the other was just sold to Juve... man, this is theraputic because following this team is like an addiction to heroin without the benefits
this window has just finished i am already thinking about who we will get for the january window we might try for khedira on a really low offer
as he is free agent almost would help boost numbers in
midfield in the new year
as we will no doubt need to filling the numbers about then also i will
hold my hands up and say i was wrong this morning for giving wenger stick and saying welbeck is rubbish i have been out in the cold light of day and had a chance to reevaluate the situation and realized that this could be a canny shrew transfer on wenger behalf actually if wenger can turn the clock back and work his magic on welbeck and get him scoring goals and improve his game then we could have a great underrated signing on our hands its wengers absolute trust in him that might be what makes him a great player
as this is something that he never had at old mordor if anybody can make him a world beater wenger can he loves this little pet projects improving players against the odds welbeck has the skillset to be high class player upfornt he just needs to work very hard on his finishing i think once he gets a few goals under his belt he will settle in fine and he is a team player you could put him on the left against man city to shore up that side and he will put in a great shift without a complaint that could be his biggest asset to us or on the right whenever we need him there ithinkwenger might start himon the left against city to protect the left back against navas and i bet you if he does a great job we will take a shine to him quickly i am hopeing he will be one of those wenger gems that he finds and polishes up to a high finish i must admit i was annoyed
as some other gunners were at not signing d / m and c / h but if wenger does win the league
with this lot it will be his greatest win yet and what might play in to our hands is the unpredictable nature of the league in the last few seasons if we get on a good run at the right time we might be hard to stop look at city they should have never lost to stoke but the result is there in black and white for all to see and i think chelsea will hit the skids after a while to just because cesc and costa are doing well now thats there main threat but teams will work out how to stop them
as the season goes on and chelsea will become predictable i think we might just do well this season after all
As for Thiago, Guardiola knows him well having worked together previously at Bayern during the Spaniard's stint in charge of the Bavarian giants prior to joining City, and
with a lack of
midfield depth particularly in the
holding role to offer competition for stalwart Fernandinho, it could be a sensible addition for the Citizens.
As they search for a holding midfielder to eventually replace Michael Carrick and pair up with Paul Pogba, it's suggested that Matic could now be targeted, although he likely won't be allowed to leave for less than # 40m this summer, as per the report, having played a pivotal role in helping Antonio Conte's side win the title this seaso

And it was looking
as though Arsene Wenger had decided to use young Chambers in the centre of defence or has a
holding midfielder, so maybe the former Gunner who was a regular starter at Turkish club Galatasaray until a fall out
with the president and manager left him out in the cold could get his wish.
Bring in Ospina for Cech; Gabriel for Koscielny (Kos is 31 and its time we start testing Gabriel and
Holding beside Mustafi to see what our long term first choice defensive partnership will look like); Gibbs for Monreal (Wenger needs to start rotating these 2 more frequently
as we need to ascertain if Gibbs can adequately produce the quality to
hold that position from next season for a few years
as I'm thinking this might be Nacho's last or penultimate season
with Arsenal, it will also give a hint
as to the type of Left - back to target in the summer — first teamer or backup and age
as well); I'll like to see an Elneny — Xhaka partnership in this fixture
as we might just never know, this might be our replica of the Kos Mustafa partnership in the centre of the park, Two disciplined (positionally, i mean) central
midfielders who can play box to box; Chamberlain for Iwobi, and Perez for Alexis should do the work.
Yeah I'm bang on
with you Grandad.Chambers again looked fairly solid and certainly did not let the side down like Mustafi AGAIN.
Holding came on and did what was required from him in the centre
as Chambers moved to RB.COULD Chambers and
Holding really perform together
as CB's in a back four?NO and nor could anyone else without the TOP QUALITY CENTRAL DEFENSIVE
MIDFIELDER we have been crying out for since the departure of Gilberto.

midfielder Frank Lampard's loan at the club beyond January,

as until April to convince United to pay # 44m for him on a permanent basis.
Coquelin is nailed - on to start
as the
holding midfielder as his brilliant season continues, and
with Ozil, Cazorla, Giroud and the mighty Sanchez impossible to drop, that leaves the only possible change being a replacement for Ramsey, who has been declared a 50/50 chance by the boss.
Lampard, widely regarded
as one of Chelsea's greatest players, made 648 appearances for the West London club between 2001 and 2014, and
holds their goalscoring record
with 211; he is the only
midfielder to have scored over 100 goals since the inception of the Premier League.
In a system
with 3 central
midfielders this is fine but when playing
as a 2 it leaves us too open, the 2 need to
hold and play close together, this also makes it easier to start moves.
i am thinking the same thing, i just do nt think
hold up play center striker style works
as well
as speed
with a creative
midfield and ozil in the middle

To me, i feel xhaka is well needed in dis new formation (d 3 -4-3) n moreso, he is a typical arsenal kind of player... can
hold on to d ball n distribute it
with precision... all we need to succeed
with dis new formation is to get a combative football playing
midfielder dat can win d ball n move
with it... in d mould of naby keita, verrati n even Everton's gana can do d job or better still, take renato sanchez on loan... doubt if he is going to get enough playing time
as he would want at bayern dis season again coz of their luxury of
midfield player, not sure if he will be in d 1st team
with vidal n thiago alcantara unbenchable n anceloti having a soft spot for kimmich (just
as wenger has for Ramsey) I think if we propose a loan deal for renato sanchez dah bayern will grant it
Arsenal fans, if they are anything like me, will still be wondering why Arsene Wenger chose to start
with Mathieu Flamini
as the
holding midfielder against AFC Bournemouth instead of the fit again Francis Coquelin.
Wenger himself admitted that he had been pondering over shifting to a back - three for quite some time now and it looks like the signing of Kolasinac has been made
with the new system in mind, considering that the Bosnian is a quick and powerful full - back who can also play
as a centre - half and
as a
holding midfielder.
I actually rate Ramsey but being asked / played
as a
holding Mid is a tall order for him especially
with his natural position and instinct being Attacking Centre
Midfield.
That said I think our
holding midfield is our biggest worry
with cazorla and Wilshire currently both set to miss the start of the season, I am not sure I am comfortable
with our current offering of xhaka ramsey
with coquelin and elneny
as back up.
I still think they could play
with a 4 -2-3-1
with XA6 and Di Maria
as holding midfielder and B2B — and still have room for Özil, but hey — that formation gave them la decima.
In turn, it's now claimed by Don Balon that Mourinho has set his sights on Fabregas and
held a «secret conversation»
with him, while it's a little more difficult to go along
with the theory that he would also see it
as a blow to Antonio Conte to prise the
midfielder away given their current rivalry.
With Arsene Wenger selecting a very makeshift defence of Debuchy and
Holding either side of a central
midfielder Elneny,
as well
as three young Gunners in Nelson, Willock and Maitland - Niles it was clear that the Gunners were making the Premier League game away to Everton on Sunday a big priority.
You can even argue that Ramsey paired
with Santi can be more of a
holding midfielder,
as oppose to an attacking one.
The nineteen year - old has a pretty good match away at Bastia, and he grew into the game
as it went on,
with the
holding midfielder looking solid in the opening stages, but gave away a couple or needless free - kicks, and have the ball away a couple of times in the middle of the park.
And Giroud is so important for our play
as he
holds the ball up well and links brilliantly
with our attacking

So,
with Jorginho being signed
as a deeper lying player, what does this mean for our skipper and

as a

hold up play and link up
with the
midfield,
as highlighted by his eight league assists last season.

Lining up on the left of a
midfield three that also featured Victor Wanyama
holding the middle ground and Mousa Dembele over on the right, charged
with aiding Kyle Walker
as well
as helping to dominate the centre of the pitch, Winks performed a similar role just ahead of Danny Rose, who caused chaos bombing on from left - back.
