as line editing, proofreading and AP style.
Substantive editing is sometimes referred to
as line editing and can also be confused with developmental editing.
This means making changes in the prose at the chapter, scene / section, paragraph, and sentence level (also known
as line editing).
Stylistic editing is most commonly referred to as copyediting, but is also known
as line editing.
So the most common, simplest form of editing is copy editing, also commonly known
as line editing.
